Collection: Ferguson Tractor

The Ferguson tractor fitted with the Standard Vanguard engine was a popular post-war conversion, particularly on the Ferguson TE20 series. This engine, originally used in the Standard Vanguard car, was a four-cylinder, inline, overhead valve petrol engine with a displacement of around 2.1 litres. It produced approximately 60–70 horsepower, offering a significant performance boost over the original 20–30 hp Ferguson engines.

These conversions were often carried out to replace worn-out original engines or to improve power and road speed, making the tractors more versatile for road transport and heavier-duty farm work. The Vanguard engine was well-matched to the TE20’s drivetrain, and its reliability and easy availability made it a popular upgrade during the 1950s and 60s.
